Word Limit for Prompt 1 - 250 words?

For prompt 1, it says “Approximately 250 words.” By how much can one go over that limit? Is 20 words too much?

You are actually permitted to go up to 300 words. Once you hit 301, it asks you to delete words to 300 or less.

Really? I never knew this before. See, I don’t want my essay to either be 1. looked down upon or 2. cut in the middle of a sentence.
