Sorry if this has been addressed before, but my eye hasn't caught a thread concerning this yet: Will colleges tolerate a few characters over the 2,000 character limit for the additional information essay if I were to submit a document? ... Say less than 30 over.

Also, is there a specific format/header for the common app. essays? I have my name, 2008-2009 applicant, and a title for my essays. Is this necessary?

I'm pretty sure the additional information (I don't think it's an "essay") can be whatever length if it's a separate document. If you're inside 2000 characters you could just paste it into the box.

I don't think the specific format is too important. It has your name on the paper anyway after you upload it. I would only suggest a title if it's good. Don't force it.
