Curious- how long does it take people on average to solve a puzzle? My process is boring, but reliable and usually quick. I usually get it in 4, with the first three words testing 15 letters. Takes me a minute-ish, unless it is a real stumper. Then it can take a loooooong time.
But fast isn’t the point and not rewarded. If I wanted to get it in 3 more often, I would sacrifice have to time.

4 is my most common as I posted above, but I keep things I get right rather than tossing all the letters out there and trying to make a word once I get five. To me, it’s easier in “hard” mode.

Five is my most common number of tries, although I solved today’s word in 3. I usually start with the same 4 words.
I just realized that, though I don’t have my account set to “hard” mode, that is how I always played. I didn’t know what “hard mode” was until I looked up that term. I guess I just thought that was how it was supposed to be played, and wasn’t using guess to try out as many letters as I could.
I got lucky today with my second guess - the correct letters I guessed in round two were in spots that narrowed it down enough that I easily figured it out with my third try.

I struggled today.
Same. I didn’t realize you even could try different words to tease out letters instead of using letters already found and going from there. That’s not as fun to me.

Agree that hard mode is more fun and also prevents careless errors, like when I mindlessly play game after game…

Testing how to share with this random one. Games are more plentiful even though it’s only been 3 days for me because I’m a wee bit bored sequestering due to needing to test negative for Covid shortly…
