work experience section

is this only for PAID work?

what about things like job shadowing

Job experience is paid work. Tghey also ask what you did with the money you've earned.

You can put the shadowing somewhere with ECs.

if the job shadow was for school, i don't think it would be appropriate, but if it was like an internship, that would be ok.

Should I put down my science internship (about 15/20 h/wk) under jobs, even though I don't get paid (it's volunteer, at least for now)?
BTW, its at a corporation/company (Mayo Clinic) not a Univ or whatever

ice, I would put the internship under the job category. whether you got paid is not the point. They just want to know how you spend your time.

cool, thanks for the advice

I've had 2 science internships, and they are not going into jobs. A job is a job, meaning you get paid. I put an ec as "Bio Research" and in positions held I elaborated, "UCD whatever internship (04/05), Carnegie Institute whatever internship (summer 05) "

I'm out of room on EC tabs; neither would I have the space to actually write out something like the sentence you just did describing your interns (damn online app haha). I might just take cardinal's advice even though its not a traditional paid job. Eh, I don't think they'll care that much.

definitely get it in somewhere...lol

I would not list an unpaid internship under "Work Experience." It is pretty clear that they are asking for compensated (paid) experience as they ask how you spent your earnings.

Internship hours are good and you should definitely list them, just not under "Work Experience."
