Hi. Research is a major EC of mine, but 1), i dont have enough room to list that on the activities list on the common app, 2), i've worked at various labs anyway..
would doing research at a ab count as work experience? what about volunteering at a hospital? I'm confused. thanks for your help!

don't let the common app box you in: its perfectly acceptable to submit a separate activities sheet along with your common app so that you can include all work exp and activities and even describe them if you believe that would positively contribute. just fill in "see supplement" or something similar for the fill ins on the online format. although this requires use of snail mail, it's definitely worth the extra hassle to flush out your presentation... try to fit it all on one page back and front so as not to overwhelm admissions committees.

hmm.. but stanford specifically says to not send in any extra materials.. could i just put it in work experience?

yeah. If you assisted a professor during your research then that counts as work experience.

what if a professor assisted you?

In Soviet Russia...

^ Let's not even go there!

lololol. okay okay i'll put it down as work experience. thanks for your help~
