Work Experience

Somewhat of a random question for me as I’m soon to be a transfer student and am thinking about a possible MBA in the future.

For some background on me, I’m a veteran and am 30 years old, and owned a national media company for 7 years. If things go as planned, I’ll be accepted into UC Berkeley’s Haas undergraduate program in 17 days.

While I have plenty on my to-do plate (undergrad), an MBA has been in the back of my mind as well, but I’m curious about what type experience I might need since my background is a bit non-traditional. When I graduate from (hopefully) Haas, I’ll be 32 and jumping into the workforce for 3-5 years and then going back for my MBA at 35-37 years old isn’t exactly ideal. I have incredible and unique experience in the industry I want to be in, it just happened to occur before undergrad school.

Any idea how this might be viewed? My background is unique, interesting, and compelling, but I’ve kind of done some things out of order, and I’m wondering if that would be a hit against me if I tried to go from (hopefully) Haas’ undergrad program into a highly ranked MBA program.

Thanks!
