I'm applying to UC schools, and I'm wondering if work experience would be something they highly consider or if it could greatly help. My GPA isn't very high, so would work experience help me out a lot? I've already done volunteer work, but I'm not sure if I should get a job to put that down on my UC application.

You should definitely get some work experience especially if you help support your family as that gets major props, as familial support is a huge deal. Actually it is better than most ECs as it shows dedication to family.

Also, what HS do you attend in S.F.? I just graduated from Lowell.

When applying to colleges this past year, I know that having some work experience was definitely helpful to me when applying. I think it demonstrates to the adcoms that you have the ability to take up the responsibility and wear many hats [school, work, ec's, social life, etc.], so yeah....

Oh that's cool Goldeb bear, I go to Sacred Heart Cathedral, I'm not poor or anything, I'm just looking to get some work experience. So after what you guys have said, I guess I'll get a job to show that I have work experience

Ive had a lot of work experience so i hope that helps me in admissions
