work study and fafsa grant

Just a simple, quick question. If I decide to accept work study and get a job, will I receive less money from my fafsa grant? At the moment I receive the maximum fafsa amount. Thanks a ton!

No.

Accept the work/study award. You can decide later to apply for a job. And no, you don’t get more or less Pell Grant.

All work/study is, is a program where the federal govt gives the school some money to offer jobs so a student can work a few hours a week and earn some extra money for expenses in addition to any other aid.

Next year when you do your FAFSA, you will enter your income from the W2 in the income section, and in section 44c you will enter the amount that was from “need based employment programs” (your work study income).

^^to add to that, your work study money will not count as income for FAFSA like a non work study job would.(however a non work study job won’t be enough income unless you start making over 6300 a year.
