Does work study counts as a real job and does the infomation goes to FAFSA? Will it take part of my FAFSA money away?
Work Study will not affect your future grants.
Work study funds are taxable income and need to be declared as such on next year’s FAFSA. However, the FAFSA also asks (at Line 44C) how much of your income was from work study. So, if you earned $2,000 from work study and $1,000 from an off-campus job, you’ll enter $3,000 as total income, and $2,000 as work study income, and the college will determine your eligibility for financial aid based on the $1,000 in non-work study income only.
