Work-Study Questions :)

My work-study in my FinAid said the status is "offered". what does that mean?
Does it have to be confirmed? there wasn't any choice though..

I went to the job listings but it said i am not eligible for work-study yet..
what does that mean?
And when do have to apply for jobs? like like resume and cover letter? do we have to start now?

Thank you :)

^ Not sure about the other questions, but you can apply for jobs at any point in the semester.

So basically, they give you an amount for work-study. Let’s say $1000. If you get a job, you’ll get the $1000 (or less) work-study money (which is half-paid by job, half-paid by Berkeley???). If you don’t get the job, then you don’t get any money from work-study.

Also, the work study amount (let’s say $1000 again) is for the whole year. You can make $50 one semester and $950 another semester. Or like $0 in the fall and $1000 in the spring.

Thank you
I was offered $4000 for work-study and it says “offered”
and i went to the job-listing and logged in with my calnetID but it says i am not eligible for work-study… does it take time to confirm my status?

i also had a question about this too. if i need to convert my loan to work study, should i do it now or when and if i get the job?

AHopeful2014, are you sure you’re logging in via the students link and not the employer link? You might wanna get it checked out because I can log in.

Batman, you should probably convert before the loan goes through into CARS. …

Thanks for the answers guys.
Arduouspallor, i can log in, but it says i dont have work-study.
Is it because it says “offered” in my FinAid? does your work study status stated “offered” also instead of confirmed?

I think it’s because your work-study is only “offered.” You might need to “accept” it on the FinAid site?

Thank you weebly  they didnt give me any option though. it just says “offered” on my FinAid site and i can’t do anything about that…

I would call the finaid office. All work study is “offered” because getting the money depends on if you get a job or not.

i got it all worked thanx guys :)

you got a job??? >.>
