so i'll be attending UCSD as a freshman. Im an environmental engineering major and I have a question about work study. If i do accept it, I'll be receiving $2,800 but idk if i should since my major is tedious and I'll have 4 classes a quarter. So if there is anyone out there that is at least an engineering major, could you please help me out here por favor? I'm really indecisive about accepting it...

im not 100% sure (im also an incoming freshman), but even if you accept work study, it doesn’t mean you’ll have to work necessarily. Because i believe that after you accepted work study, you’ll still have to go out and apply for a job just like any other person (the only difference is that you’ll tell the employer you’re on a work study program and that your pay will be limited to that maximum. I also speculate that being on work study makes it almost a guaranteed hire). but anyways, if you dont go applying for a job, you wont have to work. so as far as my knowledge, i think you should just accept it anyways, just in case you decide to get a job.

You won’t necessarily be receiving the max of $2,800. You work what you can and you get paid for those hours. I would just accept it for now.

It is hard to get job on campus.
There are many jobs outside, but you need a car.
I had $2800 in work study last year.
I couldn’t get anything on campus, until April.
So I used only $200, the rest I lost.
Now during summer I keep my job even without summer work study.
In Fall that job will became a work study again.
