Work-Study?

I was given a work-study award for $3500. I've been trying to find a position for a few weeks now, but the Office of Financial Aid isn't very helpful. They have constantly directed me towards this listing of positions (Work-Study: Departments), but every position I ask about ends up being from years ago... Just out of curiosity, I was wondering if anyone knows anything about work-study position at USC? I'm having a pretty difficult time finding any sort of spot...

No. I was also given $3500 in work study… and that list doesn’t seem to be up to date at all.

I was thinking about just waiting until I got to school to find a job.

Let me know if you have any luck, because I desperately need to find a job. haha.

The financial aid office keeps telling me that the list is up to date. I think the cut-off for finding a work-study position is early October, so waiting until the semester starts could work. But it just seems easier to have a spot lined up for when school starts.

There’s a job fair the first week of school. It’s part of Welcome Week. They should have both work study and non work study jobs there, so if you can’t find anything, then that should work.

Have you noticed how the “community service” programs actually pay way more than the actual jobs do? I find that odd. I would totally do the America Reads program if I knew that I would have a car or some way to get to a local elementary school, but that’s all up in the air, so it looks like I’ll be limited to only jobs on campus.

The Boys and Girls Club jobs have fairly high pay rates (some had bonuses according to the listing. AC Moore is fairly close to campus, if I remember correctly. It’s a bit of a walk, but not if you have someone willing to take you or if the bus goes near there at convenient hours

It’s about a mile from my dorm… which is on the same side of campus, so not too bad. I’ll look into it.

I’m definitely going to get my exercise in this year. haha
