Work-Study

So I'm an entering first year signed up for work-study as part of my financial aid. I've found myself wondering, how does it work? Is there an office that I need to go to, and what sort of job should I expect to get? Do I have a choice? Any info is appreciated.

here is all of the information from past years

if that’s not enough get in touch with someone at UVA

Thanks for enabling my laziness. After reading some of that stuff, can anyone tell me whether it’s best to do work-study or just to find a regular job in Charlottesville? Obviously work-study would be a guaranteed income but as long as I can find a job in town it seems like a normal job would have more to offer. Thoughts?

Well, part of the benefit of work-study, other than it being guaranteed, is that (or at least it’s my understanding) is that it’s part of your financial aid package. So that $1,000 or whatever you earn in work study won’t be sending your EFC up next year.
