Hi! I applied for WBB last November, but in all of my college confidential searching I haven’t seemed to find anyone else who applied. It’s very competitive and my top choice (so stressed), so I was wondering if there’s anyone else here who’s applied!
I’ve applied! I’m right where you are, super anxious and looking for information! ;D
@stadtlohnlieber Eyyy scholarship decisions are coming out soon, so let’s hope for decisions then! I haven’t seen much about it aside from that the acceptance rate is ~3% might be outdated though
@actuallysad do you think if we make it to merit scholarship level it’s almost guaranteed we make it to WBB?
I went to an info session and asked what the acceptance rate was, and the rep from Marshall said it was about the same as the general school (exactly he said ~18-20%) which just doesn’t seem real to me because the program is so amazing??? and there are applicants from all over the world? I don’t know. Wish you luck!
also how did your interview go for KiraTalent? I’m pretty sure mine was awful but I hope they’ll see where I was coming from
@stadtlohnlieber I think merit scholarship means we get into WBB since recipients are the top percentage of applicants… But who knows. And that acceptance rate is wayyy more that expected, but if it is that high, that’s definitely reassuring! Someone from my school got in (and attended) last year, and he didn’t seem too stellar. Past threads also show people getting rejected from top UC’s (LA, Berkeley) while still getting into WBB. WBB seems like an AMAZING program so that’s surprising though.
My interview was terrible. My first two answers were pretty solid, but it went downhill from there. The questions were so unexpected and way different from the practice. But we’ll see what happens this weekend/March!
Best of luck to you too!!
@actuallysad that’s so funny! (not really, I feel for you ) For my interview it was the opposite, the first questions were the ones where I completely spazzed and gave probably unintelligible answers, but I really liked my final question (but honestly, if I were judging I might turn off after watching my first answer lmao). Additionally, it said on the website three to five minutes but then we only had a minute and half to answer??? No judgement though, I want this so bad.
And honestly I dont get it at ALL. The program is a dream come true, so I don’t know why there aren’t thousands of applicants? I know it’s pretty young and all, but still. Where are you applying from?
@stadtlohnlieber The questions were difficult, I’m just hoping everyone else had a hard time too LOL. Yeah it was different on the website, maybe the format was changed this year?
And yeah I thought the program was way more popular! Programs like NYU Shanghai and Penn Huntsman likely have more applicants. I read a lot of threads from 2013, maybe it’s become less popular since then? And it’s technically cheaper than going to USC for 4 years (but then again, USC’s insanely expensive lol) it’s my top choice, and if I get in, I’m going for sure.
I’m from the SF Bay Area! If scholarship decisions really are being sent out today, this means that mines (if I even get one lol) will be one of the earlier ones. I’m also a national merit semifinalist, so I’m wondering if the guaranteed presidential scholarship will take me out of the running lmao. Where are you from?
@actuallysad I currently live in South Carolina, but I am not from the US originally.
I applied to both NYU Shanghai and Penn’s Huntsman program lmao, but I won’t complain about not getting in, as long as WBB comes through.
USC’s tuition is ridiculously expensive, but I would gladly go into debt for an opportunity like WBB. Supposedly, the acceptance letters are supposed to say which major you got into, but WBB says they decide in March. At first, I thought it wouldn’t even be possible for me to receive a scholarship at all (apparently the full tuition one doesn’t apply for WBB?? [at least according to the lady I talked to from the financial aid office.]) Which makes me think that the Presidential is basically our ‘full-ride’ because it will cover years 2,3, and 4. So congratulations on NMSF!! You’re basically guaranteed full tuition if accepted!!
@stadtlohnlieber Maybe not being from the US and all that demonstrated interest (you know a lot!!) get you into WBB I know that they used to notify applicants that they were finalists for WBB, and later notified them that they were admitted to WBB. Last year’s decisions thread during January makes it seem like people were admitted already though.
And yeah thanks, but hahaha gotta get into WBB though!! D: I’m so attached to the program now and the wait’s killing me. Let’s both hope for good news this week!
@actuallysad ha I only know what I read online, and I have no way of knowing what’s true or not and there’s so much conflicting information. Like WBB’s website says there’s only quarter and half tuition scholarships for their program (which is a lot less than general USC) but reading alumni stories, it says some people got Presidential… I just don’t get it.
Anyway, the Admissions Office seemed super nice when I met them, but I bet that’s kinda how they act with everyone :). Maybe in a couple of months we’ll be talking in our super nice dorms at USC and reminiscing about our worries on College Confidential, who knows?
@stadtlohnlieber Hmm can you only get scholarship money from USC then, or is it by school? For instance, half tuition at USC is 25k, which is already more than full tuition at HKUST and Bocconi - or would it only cover half the tuition at the other schools? Or I (may have, don’t remember for sure) saw somewhere that there’s a separate WBB scholarship.
Lmao gotta stop overthinking this, I need to get into WBB first. Hopefully we both make it and meet in the program
@actuallysad IT BEGINS
I applied as well! Hopefully we will hear a little bit earlier than regular decision
@ars121798 yes, please! April is just too long of a wait…
did anybody hear back from the admissions office? I received an acceptance letter from USC for Business Administration. As a German, I applied through Bocconi and did not apply additionally to USC. Has anybody experienced the same?
@justanotherGermanapplicant was it for WBB or business admin?
Yes, I did definitely not apply to USC. It only states Business Administration in the acceptance letter, but at USC WBB is officially called "Business Administration (World Program). My guess is that they try to attract WBB applicants for their regular programs since the average WBB applicant is much more qualified than a regular applicant.
@justanotherGermanapplicant cool! Congratulations then! You’re officially a Trojan-accept! Did you receive any scholarship money since it came so early?
