Now Pulisic is back in, but struggling.
US is clearly the better team.
Would we (USA) rather play Senegal or Holland? The Dutch always have great quality individually, but they have been known to melt down in the last 16 historically. I am less familiar with Senegal.
Agreed. Just missed 2-0, that was close though. I’d like to see that one again.
Iran was packing it in for the 1st half, but they’ll have to chase now being down.
Pulisic did not return for the second half. It’s already been announced that if the USA advances, they would play the Dutch on Saturday.
assuming Wales doesn’t come back and beat England.
While I am a big USA fan it’s hard not to admire and be concerned for the Iranian players given the external pressures they are facing and the uncertainty they will be going home to.
I passed a kidney stone without that much screaming and drama😊. It’s a bruised shin play on.
I can’t remember 9 minutes of stoppage time being awarded for a match before.
Without Pulisic, the 2nd half was all a rollercoaster ride.
Sargent walking on the sidelines looks ok. Fingers crossed him and Pulisic available on Saturday.
An average of almost 13 minutes added to the WC games, then there’s a case to be made that they ought to just go with a stop-clock.
nvm
Typically, refs add 1-4 minutes at the end of a half. In this tournament, the norm seems to be at least five minutes added per half.
FiveThirtyEight did an analysis of extra time versus the expected stoppage time a few years ago (2018 World Cup) and found that extra time was generally much less than expected stoppage time.
My soccer obsessed son told me that this world cup they are keeping strict/accurate track of the stoppage time (electronically) , and that’s why it’s so long. In other words, its not a best guess, which is what it usually is.
Pulisic to play on Saturday vs Holland per ABC news after getting abdominal scans at hospital.
Thank goodness. We need to be firing on all cylinders to beat the Dutch.
Truthfully, it didn’t look that bad to me.
