World History Study Thread

World History exam is coming up next week, so gotta review some more. Post the answer to the previous question and post a new question in the same post.

Name some of the major differences in the devleopment of the Olmec and Chavin civilizations when compared to civilizations that developed in the middle-east, India, and China.

1.) There developed on no major river system.
2.) They developed with no connection to other civilizations.

What is the major contribution of Lydians, Phoenicians, and Hebrews in history?

I just started review, so not completely positive:

Olmec and Chavin: Did not develop around good bodies of water - Chavin region in the Andes especially unsuitable; no good or no true written language (I believe the Aztecs are the exception but could be Mayas); did not have metallurgy but used obsidian; developed in isolation, leading to less trade (Incan royal road is an exception)

Middle East, India, and China: Developed around good bodies of water (tigris and euphrates, indus, yellow respectively) that greatly helped agriculture, had written languages (not as good in India though I don't think, more oral tradition), had metallurgy from bronze to iron; developed in interaction leading to more trade

Not sure what else - many similarities though too.

Lydians: Coinage
Phoenicians: Phonetic Alphabet
Hebrews: Monotheism

Correct. Now, its your turn to post a question.

Lydians- coined money, influenced trade systems

Phoenicians- established maritime based city states in the Mediterranean and devleoped an alphabet adopted by the Greeks.

Hebrews- held belief in Judaism, first true monotheism

In what Egyptian kingdom did Hatshepsut rule in and what is she credited with doing?

Are you using PR?

New Kingdom, she is accredited for sponsoring major trade expeditions.

Yes, I am using PR.

Describe the fall of the Han Dynasty.
