How does Penn/Wharton's worldly & employer recognition compare to the likes of Harvard and Yale? By Worldly recognition, i mean does it carry the same weight for employers, say in Europe? Also, for employer recognition, is it among the top targets among most employers in the US, given that it is an Ivy League school, has a fine business institution, and has been around for a long time (reputation)? Again, I'm asking this as a stand-alone and in comparison to other prestigious/reputed universities.

btw, im not asking this just to see what you guys think about its prestige..obviously its highly prestigious (although i do hate the seldom mix-ups with "pennstate")...I am concerned more about job prospects with a penn/wharton degree.

When on tour, they actually mentioned there were some very prominant companies that only recruited from Wharton, now with the current state of affairs that may change.

wharton is the best, or (at the worst) is tied for having the best job recruitment opportunities. companies from all over the world come to wharton's campus to find new recruits for their companies in all fields. Barclay's for example, operates out of London but has recruited extremely heavily from wharton for years and will continue to do so because of the high-calibur of recruits it gets from penn/wharton

As a general rule of thumb, those who need to know, know. That is, the best employers will come to Penn. And all undergraduates use the same on-campus recruiting system and the top companies (Goldman, McKinsey, etc) will interview students from SEAS, College, and Wharton.

There are also student groups like EuroPenn that will help you establish career contacts in Europe (that is when they're not busy throwing eurotrash parties ;))

And while my experience with Penn in Europe is limited, I can say it has served me quite well here in Asia!

oh wow really? Ive heard of companies having Wharton as their top target, but Only recruiting from wharton; now that is amazing. Do you by any chance remember what companies they mentioned?

Also, i think i was unclear in the question and maybe everyone thought i meant Wharton's target status only in europe. How is the target status in the US, esp with this economy tumbling?

ivy24, Wharton is highly regarded everywhere as the best undergraduate business program in the world. You do not need to worry about Wharton's reputation. Nobody can give you an unbiased comparison of how Wharton's prestige compares against Harvard or Yale for business, but you can be sure that a degree from any of these 3 institutions can land you jobs at all the top places. For undergrad business I would say Wharton is the best of all 3 in terms of pretty much everything, including job opportunities.
