my essay was about materialism and wheather or not ppl should criticize it. I think i strayed to far off topic so i'm really worried. I wrote 2 body paragraphs which were about materialism (1 about John Steinbeck's "the pearl" and how the main character became materialistic with the pearl, and one about how basically everybody is somewhat materialistic) but the only time i mentioned the "criticism factor" of materialism was in my intro and conclusion paragraphs. So now im freakin about b/c i think im gonna get a 0 on the essay. Am i okay or am i screwed?

if you at all mentioned materialism you'll at least get a 2. And anyone who is using steinback probably has a good sense of how an essay is supposed to be written.

so i got like a 3?

If you stray slightly, they won't necessarily mind. I said materialism is necessary fuel for the human workforce, and talked about a personal experience and communism (specifically, the soviet union).

so do u think ill be okay?

I'm no expert, but I would think you would do fine. They grade it with a rubric and you get steps for everything you do. Mentioning materialism, check, taking a side, check, forming an argument, using examples, check.

You don't have to really mention criticism in your essay. Just argue for or against it using examples like you did.
