I'm applying to Temple University in Philadelphia, PA this Fall. I'm worried about getting in, and I was wondering what the opinions were of anyone on here. I have a 2.8 GPA, but have a rigorous schedule (AP and Honors). I took my SAT's and got a 1500 but I'm retaking them later this month. I had a rough Junior year, and it is evident in my grades. I have a great guidance counselor letter of recommendation, two letters from my bosses at work (I work at Best Buy) and a letter from one of my teachers, who is a Temple Alumni. I have done volunteer work at church and at a youth center in Philadelphia. I also have done things with music in the community and have been pursuing a part-time music career on my own. I work part time, around 20 hours a week. I'm just worried because I had a major life crisis with depression during my junior year and fell off the wagon for a bit, and I'm trying to climb my way back. Any thoughts? I'm applying to the IT program there.

You’d be in the bottom 15% for GPA, but rigor of curriculum is very important to them; your SAT MUST improve otherwise, indeed, it’s a reach for you.
What other schools are you applying to?
You’d do better with schools that are less numerical and more holistic, ie., that take into account circumstances that led to that GPA.
Otherwise, West Chester would be a match, Penn State Abington and Brandywine also.

Buy a SAT prep book now and get to studying. That could be your saving point in your application. You can also increase your chances by writing an admission essay that really stand out. Be careful here, make sure you don’t go too sappy about having a life crisis. Word that very carefully if you want to use that topic for your personal essay.
