Ok so I'm a junior in high school(Asian by the way)and I'm extremely worried about college. My parents want me to be a doctor but I'm not all that interested in that major. Anyway, I 'm deciding to go along with it.My parents always talk about how their friends' kids get into 6 year pre-med and how they had a 4.0 weighted GPA and a 35 on their ACT. I'm projected to have a 28-31 on my ACT and I have a 3.7 average GPA. I'm also in Science Olympiad, NHS, and Math team. I've done volunteering and some sports. I'm also taking 2 AP classes this year and 4 AP classes next year. I've been really worried about getting into 6 year pre-med because all the people that have got into have higher GPA's and higher ACT scores. So basically now, I'm really worried about if I'll even get into a good university for pre-med and so all these problems are arising. Should I be worried this much?

What you need to worry about is getting into a good undergrad, not med school yet. It doesn’t matter what your undergrad is, anyone can apply for med school.

Do you have any extracurriculars that showcase more than passive interest? Are you considered ‘well rounded’?

Forgot how to have fun while doing the Gifted IB.

If you don’t wanna be a doctor then don’t do it. With anything over 30 on the act you have a good chance at almost any college and your GPA is fine. Have a solid essay and ecs and you’ll get into lots of schools. And don’t worry about med school if you don’t wanna go. I’m sure your parents will be fine if you become a lawyer or any other respectable profession
