Hi all, this is my first post so pls bear with me… I am a rising senior studying in Canada. I have just received my report card in the mail and to say at the least, I am not pleased with it why so ever. Throughout high school I have been a 4.00 student, but this year I really struggled and ended with a 3.3. I took many AP courses this year, but struggled with a few. I have always dreamed of attending a top University in the US, but I am not afraid I will not make the cut, what so ever. Do any of you have any tips for the upcoming admissions process as I am extremely worried about my grades for my junior year???
A drop junior year with more advanced courses is not going to look great but there are many great universities that are less selective where you can get a great eduction. How is the rest of your application? SAT/ACT? ECs?
I currently have 35 on the ACT.
This is a problem, but you can still get into a good college. First of all, your ACT is good. If your ECs are good then you’re covered there. Now about courses. If the bad grades that you got are in courses that are completely unrelated to your major, that won’t be too bad either. Sure its not great, but you can still make a strong application. Perhaps if you had special circumstances that affected your performance, you could add that in your application as well. Good luck!
