Hi. I’m a junior from a Jesuit high school in Portland. I’m looking to double major in Journalism and Digital Media at LUC. I took a tour during the Winter and I absolutely loved it. I was wondering if anyone could give me my chances.
Stats:
3.28 GPA (Unweighted)
29 ACT (Looking to get a 30)
No AP or Honors courses
ECs:
Lettered Junior year in the Theatre department and lettering Senior year.
Started a Film Appreciation Club beginning of Junior year.
Ambassador of Unity (LGBT+ Community) Club.
Member of the International Thespian Society since Freshman year.
Taking an Ecuador Immersion trip for service during Spring break.
Had a job from end of Freshman year until beginning of Junior year. (Place shut down)
Applied for a Journalism summer program at LUC.
If I need to add any extra information please let me know. Thanks!
I think that you’ll have a good chance by the time that you apply. Take the rest of this school year to focus on your grades and the ACT, then add a strong EC or two over the summer. Your ACT score helps to make up for the low GPA. Good luck!
I’m considering applying and I have a 3.37 GPA and 29 ACT. If I apply, I’ll let you know whether or not I got accepted.
Thanks. I’m applying for another job over the summer and taking a summer course in digital media as well. Hopefully that will help. My GPA doesnt look like its going to change much more this semester, so im looking to bump it up to at least a 3.2 during the first semester of Senior year. I’m still super anxious about this.
If it matters, I’ve been told by my college counselor and several teachers that my high school is considered “Honors” so colleges consider my GPA bumped up 0.3 points for admissions. I don’t know whether or not I should take that into account.
