worried About Next Year's Math Class

Hi Everyone,
A few weeks ago my bs sent out course registration papers, a math placement exam, and language essay form.
I’m extremely worried about about which math class I will be placed in, as I really struggled this year. I took Honors Geometry and earned a low B as my final grade. I don’t think I did well on my math placement exam, or what would be expected of someone who took honors geometry. I will be a new 10th grader and I learned biology instead of physics like the kids at my new school.
So, if I do retake geometry would I still be able to take Chemistry with my peers? Do you know how (most) college admissions looks at students who repeat a class?

Also, I know most people on CC don’t have any experience with course registration, so I really should just call my school, but I don’t feel comfortable doing so right now.

BS’s have been doing this a long time. They almost always get the placement right. Even if they don’t, they can adjust at the beginning of the year.

Colleges recognize that BS classes are often more challenging, and you would not be the first person to have to retake. And hey, you may have done better on the placement test than you think.

@skieurope Thank you, that makes me feel a lot better.

Also note that the schools will let you go down to the easier class if you are struggling. Talk to your advisor ahead of time and keep close watch the first couple week of class.

Conceptual Physics was the Freshman course in my daughter’s school, but there were some Freshman that took Biology instead. In her school specifically you need Algebra II to take Chemistry, but you can be enrolled in both concurrently. You’re school may have an option to double up your math as well, which is what she’s doing next year and take Geometry and Algebra II simultaneously!

Many schools allow schedule adjustments at the beginning of the year! You’ll just need to speak with the academic advisor!
