worried about returning student financial aid

So ... my bill is appearing in SIS, without any financial aid award.

I don't have any todo's, and I submitted my FAFSA early (Pell Grant eligible) before the deadline in March. What's going on? I'm going to call SFS come Monday but I'm kind of scared right now.

You basically described my situation exactly. I’m one of those people who depends on financial aid to be able to go here. I’m definitely planning to call Monday because last year (my first year) I fell through the financial aid cracks (they didn’t send me an award letter, the people in carruther’s wouldn’t send me a new one for various BS reasons, finally had to go all the way up to speaking with Yvonne Hubbard to find out if I could even attend the school, very frustrating) and when I finally got straightened out, they told me that since I was messed up once, I’d probably have problems every year. Im really hoping that all of this is just due to SIS and changing over and everything. But yeah, my SIS says “Future Due: $6,785.00”. Definitely panicking and calling on Monday.

I’m hoping it’s just this whole SIS/ISIS transition thing…

Same here…worried…hope I get to attend next semester…

yea a lot of people have that problem with “future dues”, best to call and find out

Update:

Just got off the phone with Financial Aid. The rep I spoke to told me that they are putting aid packages online on Tuesdays and Thursdays. She told me that the last day of this will be July 16th (she said that if I haven’t heard anything from them by then, call them). I asked if she could verify for me that I was being processed and there were no issues with my info or anything like that, and she looked it up via my student ID number and told me that there weren’t any problems or anything missing from my applications and that I should see something shortly (as in, on or before July 16th).

I did check with SFS Monday…

Apparently my bill was posted early, before the financial aid. The clerk told me she was the first one she’d seen with the bill already ready, lol. Well I hope it’s just an early bird thing.

I’m a bit anxious about the award, namely because I still don’t know what I’m getting – I’m expecting a major change since my sister is going off to college this fall too.

I called financial aid and was told the same thing…no to-dos and nothing missing… My bill has been posted also.

did anyone’s “future due” change? Mine went from “$6,xxx.00” to “$9,xxx.00” which only makes me worry more…

Yes mine changed as well. What changed was that they added the cost of your housing for next year

Mine changed, too, and it increased like ksbear’s. And I’m sure housing doesn’t cost only ~$3000, unless if they’re doing it by semester?

I forgot to mention that they also added the cost of your dining plan. And yes, this is the cost for the fall semester. If you log into SIS, scroll down to the finances section of your student center, click on the link that says “Account Inquiry”, and then click on the tab that says “Charges Due”, you’ll see a breakdown of the future due cost. It’ll have things like tuition, fees, housing, dining, and any other random little things that are associated with your housing (like, I have a $60 brown fee)

I didn’t get a dining plan =)

Yay for saving 3600 dollars this year!

So today is supposedly the last day they are posting packages in SIS. Anyone else still not have theirs? I’m not looking forward to calling them tomorrow…

Not up for me.

package is up for me. when it’s up, you’ll get an notification through email.

mine isn’t up either, and as an OOS student, i’m getting pretty nervous. i can’t go to UVA if i don’t have financial aid…

I called financial aid again today and was told that whoever told me that July 16th was the last day was wrong and they’re going to go through the summer. She made the typical excuses of “oh we’re short staffed” and “it’s the new system.” She said that I should just sit tight basically.

I called two or three weeks ago and got the same line as you. No matter, I can wait I suppose.

Is it possible to get preliminary figures like in our first year?

I mean, I have no idea what the change will be since my sister is also attending school this year. It would be nice to budget in advance.
