Worried about the Accuplacer

Hi, I didn’t know where this would go because I couldn’t find an accuplacer section.

I’m trying to go to my local college this upcoming fall (2018) and am taking the accuplacer test in just a few days. I will be going for a technical certificate in information technology, which does not require any math classes. However, I’m afraid that if I place low on the accuplacer then I will have to take a math class anyway. Will this happen?

I greatly appreciate any information I can get, thank you.

The accuplacer is relatively simple, around the same level as an SAT 2 math section

There are online prep sites for Acuplacer. Try googling Accuplacer MOOC or Accuplacer Prep. I strongly encourage you to do prep b4 you test. Kahn academy may have special Accuplacer prep site. And College Board itself.

For many students, it the basics of fractions and such that they have forgotten and don’t do well on.

Good luck!!

There is free math placement test help at edready.org

Definitely prep! My kid took it cold and kind of bombed it after doing really great on the ACT math section. For him it was fine, he is just dual enrolling and we’re just continuing on our math sequence. Based on that test, he would have had to drop back a couple classes. Or we could have prepped or retaken.
