Penn is my top-choice school and I'm applying to Wharton ED this year. My SAT score is decent (cr.m.w: 710.770.800), but I wanted to try ACT this September since I felt I had nothing to lose. After taking it I'm worried I may have scored low, and I know that Penn is one of the few universities that wants both your SAT AND ACT scores if you've taken both.
I feel like I've somehow hurt my chances at Wharton....

Will a low score really hurt me? Or will they just look at my SAT score if it is higher?

Oddly enough, I went to an information session at Penn on Friday, and the admissions officer said it was not necessary to send both the SAT and ACT. I’m not sure if what she told us was wrong or if what you read/heard was wrong, though.

hmmm…that’s strange I heard differing things too. Eventually I called Penna and asked, and they said they would like my ACT scores as well. Some people say don’t send them since they wouldn’t know that you even took them, but I feel like that’s kind of dishonest.

Yeah it’s better to just send them. They’ll honestly probably just look at the higher one.

With that sat score, you needa just take it easy. If people like you are worried, then people like me should just give up and go to community college.

no my definition of bad is much worse…i know i screwed up a few questions. By bad I meant like 30…I’m hoping for a 34 but I know the ACT doesn’t have the best curves.

Regardless I’m just going to hope for the best, and other colleges only require SAT or ACT, so I only have to worry about Penn :)
