Worrying about not including dropped course on common app

This has been bugging me for a while and I just wanted to get this off my chest: I’m trying to transfer to other universities and during this spring semester I withdrew from one course. When completing the Common App, I wasn’t sure whether to include the course that I withdrew from. I asked my academic advisor what to do and she said that she’s not that familiar with how the common app works but told me that she believed it should be okay for me not to include it. I also thought it should be okay because when I sent my transcripts to the colleges, it didn’t include the courses I’m taking for the spring semester because I requested them to be sent before the spring semester officially started. What I am concerned about is if I get accepted to those schools and I send them my final transcripts for them to verify, they would notice the discrepancy of me not reporting the one course that I withdrew from and rescind my decision. What should I do?

You should contact their admissions office before they get your final transcripts and explain your mad a mistake. Applicants try to omit things all the time because they’re worried it’ll make them look bad but a withdrawal on your record is much better than giving the impression you’re lying. And they will most likey catch it.

I was in a similar situation because I had a terrible academic history from when I first started college. I got C’s and D’s all over the place and was even on progress probation at one point for having too many withdrawals. It was that bad. But I recently got back into school and when I was sending my transfer apps, I was told I didn’t have to include the all the “bad stuff” because it happened a long time ago so colleges don’t really look at it anyway. So I only put my most recent academic history from my current CC on my UC app. Then I got a notice from UC Riverside (because they were my TAG) having me confirm that I reported my ENTIRE academic history. I was super stressed too but eventually I called them saying I was misinformed and didn’t include some really, really bad grades. They told me to update my history imediately because if any UC caught my omission, my application could be “red-flagged” making my chances of ever getting into a UC pretty much less than zero. So I reluctantly added every C, D, and W to my app. I was sure I was going to get rejected by everyone at that point but in the end I got accepted to 5 UCs. I’m even waitlisted at UCLA and UCSD
