Is it just me (could quite possibly be) or, is there one time a year that your grades seem to hit a slump? I'm a rising junior and started with my first AP, AP Biology. Why one? The teacher is known to "murder GPA's" and she does. My grades for the first quarter were all A's, and a C+ (weighted.., and that was considered a high grade!) now I'm busting my ass for this class and pulling an 82 unweighted but all my grades dropped to B/B+, every second quarter my average goes from a low/high A in most subjects to flatline B's, does this happen to everyone else? I guess I could assimilate the lackluster grades to less time in school (large succession of breaks) and a short term, who knows.

Every year my grades drop during the second quarter; they go from high A’s to low A/B’s.

My grades actually improved second quarter (second quarter is usually the worst) - I’m a rising Junior as well, and I’m enrolled in AP US History, which I have no problem with, in fact, I have a high A currently, and it never dips below a 96, however, Algebra II Honors is kicking my ass; and I don’t know why. It seems so logical, but my test grades in Algebra II are horrendous

I currently have all A’s and A+'s, and then an ugly little B in Algebra II

Hrumph.

^ Lucky…, Im going to have to work extra hard to maintain a 3.7+ (Unweighted), I was supposed to be in Honors Trigonometry/Analytical Geometry & PreCalculus but…even though I recieved A’s and B’s in 8th grade Algebra I, they still kept me back (Flunked the midterm, didnt know what it really was and wasnt as studious, I never studied) therefore I’m set back a year, taking trig in the summer to move up to AP Calculus, I have a love hate relationship with math…

Junior year I took 3 APs + 1 Honors Class + 1 Regular Class. I maintained around a 3.4-3.5 UW for the first two trimesters and then I completely bombed my third trimester (3.2, as a result of a C in Honors Precal).

Just keep your head up and work harder! I was in a rump my freshman AND sophomore year. My GPA was like a 3.2. But I decided I was gonna spend more time on schoolwork and it really helped! All the best to you! :)

I keep going up each quarter. 1st quarter I had mostly Bs, an A, and my 1st C (I’m taking my first APs too…). this quarter I’m hoping for all A’s. it’s working out so far

My school run on trimester- 3 12-week semester, And I gotta say that the winter trimester (2nd) is the worst. But this time in my junior year I may finally breaks that curse lol. I almost had a As in first quarter, Fell in second quarter, might makes another comeback in second quarter. And I also have my first AP Lit and Comp so it is a challenge.

In every year except this one (senior) I’ve started off slowly and then dragged my grades up through the first quarter.

When you’re getting ready to start school again, especially as a Sophmore or Junior, and sometimes as a Senior, you’re usually pumped up for school and intensely motivated. After the first quarter, and the glory that comes with the resulting A’s and all, you start to lean back and enjoy. As a result, you slack off either because of your recent success or your fatigue from all the hard-work during the first quarter… All in all, you mess up in the second quarter, and your motivation is rejuvenated to perform better in the following quarter. You excel in your third quarter, almost more than the first, and in the final quarter, your grades are usually better than second but not as good as the first and third, this is due to a certain motivation to wrap up the school year nicely.

This does not apply to every individual, but are only observations I have taken note of from several nerds as myself and others.

My first semester of senior year was terrible. All of my grades plummeted because I have a terrible bout of senioritis. But this semester they have all went up, back to the All A status I’ve held all throughout high school. I’ve been highly motivated knowing that in four months I will be graduating! That’s motivation enough.

I feel like this upcoming semester (my senior 2nd semester) will be the worst…I’m taking my hardest courses ><

Junior year was unequivocally my worst.

It’s bad.

I always do better second semester than I do first, for some reason.
I think it’s because I’m used to the style of the teacher and what they want.
But all of my A-'s have been first semester, and second has been all A’s.

My grades are often highest in first quarter and last quarter. Second quarter they tend to be relatively low. Third quarter is a bit of a rebound as I go into fourth.

I live in New England and its pretty depressing here in the winter. I don’t know if that’s the reason that my grades drop during the winter, but it could be.

Well for me, this is how every year tends to go

Starts out well, then especially a slump in January occurs. Every year.

Then 2nd semester comes along and I manage to increase any of my grades in some way. Lets take 9th grade: For the first semester, I ended up with 2 B’s (Spanish 1 and Honors Biology). For the 2nd semester, I received all A’s. It partly deals with me getting used to the classes :p.

2nd quarter sucks

2nd quarter is usually my worst, whereas 1st and 4th quarter are where I shine (for some… unexplainable reason).

My grade in AP English during the end of second quarter dropped 2 points…

Second quarter is my worst quarter.
