Worth it for out of state-ers?

I'm an admitted student, and am wondering whether Cal is 'worth it' for out-of-staters. When it all adds up, cal is only 6-7K cheaper than many private schools, and from what I've read, Cal doesn't provide the kind of advising, consistent teaching quality, and access to classes that most private schools do. So, though if I were a California resident, I could really see the advantages of going to Cal (reduced tuition), as an out-of-stater I guess I'm not so sure. Any thoughts?

Some say it's worth it, some say it's not. I think it is, but you'd have to really love the school to come. Berkeley's a superb school with great opportunities and has much prestige.

Depends on what other schools you get into. Since Berkeley is a public university, you will receive less financial aid than private universities for the most part as OOS.

At Berkeley, there are lots of things to get involved it, but you'll have to actively seek them out.
