For a student scoring under a 600 on SAT Math, is it worth even attempting SAT II Math Level 1 or 2?

Do you hate math? What schools are you trying to go to? Most of the top colleges prefer Math 2 over Math 1, so if you are going to take one, I’d study for the 2. If you don’t hate math, then I would get the Barron’s Math 2 and take some of the practice tests to see where you’re lacking and study those sections. Don’t be discouraged by low scores! That book is a lot harder than the test. Scores over 750 on the Barron’s is almost a guaranteed 800 on the real thing. Good luck!

Of course, it’s almost mandatory.

Well if a student is under 600, i would recommend he/she study really hard and take math 2 because most colleges count math 2 more than math 1.

^Yeah, and also Math Level 2 has a way more lenient curve than Math Level 1 since it’s considered harder. If you’re in Algebra 2 or above, I’d say go for Math Level 2 (with plenty of studying beforehand, of course).
