My daughter took a course this past semester with a teacher she'd never had before, in a subject she'd never studied before, and did unusually well. The teacher offered to write an additional rec letter and is sending it to the schools to which she's already applied. D has already been accepted to Tulane and received the Presidential Scholarship and Honors, and has applied for the DHS and the PTA. Do the rec letters she submitted with her application for admission - and the additional one she could send - have any relevance to the DHS and PTA applications?

Doesn’t the DHS still require an additional letter of rec? Oh, never mind, she would have already done that, it is past the deadline, duh. In any case, additional positive elements in one’s file never hurt at all, as long as it doesn’t get excessive. I would definitely send it on to Tulane and request it be placed in her file. I can’t say how relevant it will be to her chances, but it can’t be a negative.
