Would GS reject a 17 year old traditional student?

I'm looking to transfer into GS from my current school, but from what I've read, GS is full of adults, and I'm not sure if they would accept me. I want to get into GS as a stepping stone to regular Columbia. If I am a traditional student, would they reject me right away? (before looking at grades and stuff like that)

yeah, you need to have taken a one year break in your education and/or present a compelling basis to attend school part-time (i.e. a family, work, or personal factors) to be eligible for GS. so no matter how strong a conventional candidate you are, you wont be regarded as a serious candidate unless you can justify why the unique program is suited to your needs. besides… its extremely difficult to transfer internally from GS to “columbia proper,” anyway.

so you should direct your app directly to the liberal arts college if thats where you want to go

GS is not a stepping stone into “regular” Columbia. Also, yes, you’d be instantly rejected for being a “traditional” student.
