Would I be accused of cheating?

So I took the ACT in early March, like March 3rd or something, for the state required test, and scored a 28 (28.25 to be exact). That is a considerably low score for me, and when taking the test I was extremely sick (had a fever, and just didn’t feel well all together). I was also dealing with some family problems; simply put, it was not a good time to take the test. Again, I had no other option but to take the test because it was state administered.

I am taking the test again this Saturday (June 13th) and I have been taking practice exams (I took none before the 28). I have been scoring 33s-35s on all of them and I was wondering if I scored a 33 or 34, heck even a 35 fingers crossed would I be accused of cheating?

Thanks in advance. I am kind of new to this and I have been reading college confidential and found a lot of stories about cheating.

Just to clarify - in no way would I cheat, I would never do that.

That is not cheating. You studied and prepared and consequently improved your score. It is actually pretty common.

Scores that move 8 points are subject to quality review. The test may be selected for audit.

My advice is save all of your practice materials.

My younger son took the ACT cold and got a 26 the first time. He studied with the help of a tutor and scored 31 composite 6 months later. As stated above ^^^ a huge increase of 8 points would be a cause for review which would put you at 36 and an amazing score. Good Luck.

Just get 8 extra points, then worry about being accused of cheating. Until you get 8pts, don’t stress over it:-)
