Would I fit in at SMU?

I really like SMU as a school; I think the academics are great and I love the location. I’m a little worried about the student body however.

How would I, as a girl from northeast who’s kind of a nerd (I love to study, get stupidly enthusiastic about academics, love Harry Potter and other geeky stuff) fit in? Would I be able to make friends?

P.S I do have some social skills lol

I am worried about the same thing. That’s why I might visit the school again this or next weekend. I really love SMU too! I hope we will have the chance to see other on campus this fall

FWIW, their number three admissions state is CT. Texas and California and one and two.

Yes, there are other people there like you. My daughter lived in the honors dorms her first year and there was a lot of studying going on. They no longer have the honors dorm, everyone’s mixed together but the people are still there. My son’s going next year, and he’s a closet nerd.

Hi @pennytime101 You will be able to make friends just fine! I’m a current senior at SMU, and I love to read, am a Harry Potter fan, and I’m a good student. My friends and I will book study rooms together, attend Tate Lectures on campus, and check out museums in Dallas. There are lots of smart, interesting, down-to-earth people at SMU. Seek out scholars communities and different clubs on campus that appeal to you.
