I know bentley is a business school and I am planning on majoring in Marketing but I have not had any experience in business and I want to know if most people going into Bentley have had some sort of experience. What I mean is I haven’t really taken any business courses or had any internships for business but I know I want to go to school for business. Could someone who’s gone to Bentley let me know if most of the people who go to Bentley have had prior business experience or went into the University with not that much experience and did fine.
Congratulations, Bentley is an awesome school! Our daughter graduated last year and did not have one business course throughout high school - our school just does not offer them. There were definitely some kids who had taken accounting classes, etc., but she did fantastic! Prior to Bentley she had no internships in the business field either - but she did have two during her years at Bentley. I do not see where not having those classes will hold you back at the school. Our son has been admitted and he, too, has no business classes. We will be up there next Saturday for the accepted students open house as he narrows down his choices. Best of luck to you and if you have anymore questions, just let me know!
I would say it runs the gamut. But pulling statistics completely out of thin air: 30% had some sort of high school intro to business courses, or prep courses. I don’t know what it’s called but apparently theres a consortium of high schools that are basically trying to jump start kids and funnel them into business schools. They visit our campus every spring.
maybe 15% had some sort of accounting or finance experience, like playing around with stocks and trading.
Then there’s the rest of us. You don’t need to be overprepared for Bentley. In fact if you are, you would probably be really bored in the classes they force you to take your first few years, because they are predicated on the assumption that you know nothing about business.
Good luck!
I’m facing the same question! And I’d like to go into Marketing too.
