Would I Get In?

I'm seriously considering applying to Dartmouth...my uncle went there (he was a VERY active alum), and even after his death a few years ago, my aunt still stayed involved in campus events. Do I stand a chance of being admitted? I'm looking to be an English major or something similar...my SAT scores are low, and my ACT scores in math and science are lagging, but I'm hoping that since I don't plan to pursue these areas and I participated in extra-curricular activities geared toward my major this will lessen the impact.

I plan on raising my ACT score: I took the test the first time not knowing ANYTHING about its format (I earned a composite score of 30), but now I have a book that I'm using to study. I took the SATs twice, but I found that my scores were average (600 to 690 for each component) and I was better-suited towards the ACT. I would really prefer to NOT take the SATs again.

Thank you for all of those that respond, and best wishes to all of you!

probably not...but that stands true for everyone who applies. but the SATs are lowish, though the 690 still puts you around the lower threshold for mid-50% sooo ...

honestly, you wont know unless you try. Raising your ACT will help, didn't see any SATII's (didn't look that hard), but you need to do that ... being from MA won't help you either.
