Would I have a good chance or slim chance of getting into Villanova?

My whole life I've been a great student. I've always overachieved and got very high grades. I've gone to Catholic School my whole life so my grades are in percentiles.

Freshman year: 97 overall average
sophomore year: 91 overall average
junior year: 91.2 overall average
senior year: N/A
Overall I am cumulatively ranked 20 out of 288 students.

My SAT results are:(I'm retaking them with the help ofMath and reading prep courses in october)
590 Critical Reading
510 Math
500 Writing (have not taken ACT's yet. Goal Score of 31 or 32)
I've always struggled with standardized tests, but I've taken honors classes every year, and I'm taking 3 AP classes this year. (AP Biology, AP Psychology, and AP History.)

I'm very involved in community service doing about 60 hours a year not including my service clubs. I am Vice President of National Honors Society, and Lead officer of Junior AOH. Also I am involved in baseball for my community. I also have a job that I just recently started. Being this involved, and having high grades, will I get into Villanova even though my SAT scores arent high?

Agh.

Your test scores are pretty low by Villanova’s standards. However, your grades are probably much more competitive. I’m not sure about your ECs — they seem good, and will definitely help you.

If you can’t do anything about your scores, you might appeal to the vast difference between your scores and your school performance (which is much more predictive of future success) and try to explain why this difference exists without making excuses.

But Villanova does seem to be a reach for you. :(

I know, my scores on my PSAT’s and my SAT’s dont really show my potential. My lowest grade ever in any class was an 85 or a B pretty much. and it’s only happened once haha, I’m trying for prep, but I have one question, are the ACT’s a better chance for me if I reach my target score?
Thank you so much for the help!

I think your SATs are just too low…the average for ACCEPTED applicants at nova is 1350-1440. The average for students ENROLLED is a 1300. Still apply though cause you never know. best of luck

As you are aware your grades are great and your scores are severely lacking. Put a lot of effort into studying for the SAT/ACT. Get prep books and do as much practice problems as you can. If you can afford it, consider taking a prep class. If you can’t get all your SAT sections in the 600s of your ACT to a 29+ your chances aren’t great.

As for SAT vs. ACT I did better percentile wise on the SAT and always preferred it to the ACT.

Rayn if you want to go to Villanova-- teach yourself the SAT test. Take a section test a day everyday from now until Sept then increase to 2 sections a day until Oct SAT test. it’s like training to run a marathon

look up Xiggi’s SAT test taking skills. You must get to mid high 600s but you can do it!!!

I’m going for prep before i retake the SAT’s on October 6th, and I’m going for prep before i take my ACT’s on october 27th. I have 4 letters of reccomendation, from what I hear, the letters that two of the teachers write are just extraordinary. Do they play a big role in acceptance? and If I can possibly increase my scores to 1250 or above on a 1600 scale, is there a much better chance with everything else factored in???

did you get in?
