Would I qualify for a scholarship?

SAT
2080
ACT
at least 31 I'm guessing (Haven't taken it yet but I've gotten 30s on the practice tests)
PSAT
208
I'm gonna take the Spanish and Bio SAT II and hopefully I'll get 700

My gpa is a 98 weighted currently. IDK what that is on the 4.0 scale.

I've gotten 90+ on the state tests for the following subjects too.

History
- Honors World, AP World (Got a 4 on the AP Exam), AP U.S., maybe AP Psychology next or AP Govt. and politics
Math
- Honors geometry, Regents Alg. 2 Trig, Regents Pre-Calc, Calculus next?
Science
- Earth Science, Honors Bio, Regents Chem, Regents Physics, and I'm planning AP Bio
Spanish
- 4 years of honors Spanish; I've also won silver on the national Spanish exam in 10th grade
English
- 2 Years honors and 2 years AP (Language, and I'm planning Lit.)
Also I want to take Health Related careers senior year.

Let's assume my teacher recommendations are great.

ECs

-Volunteering at a major hospital system; I've got 75 hours so far but I'm aiming for 200+
-I've been in the school choir for 3 years and I'm going to continue it senior year; I've participated and done well in NYSSMA and All- County

Awards

-Apart from the silver on the National Spanish exam
-96's at NYSSMA and acceptance to All County
-Underclassman award for Chemistry
-I've also been on the Honor Roll (consistently High honor roll) since like 7th grade.
-I'm eligible for the AP Scholar Award

I know my extracurriculars are weak but how do I fare? Do I qualify for any scholarships from schools like NYU, Stony Brook, or Emory? It doesn't have to be these schools but I'd like to go to school somewhere on the east coast.

What is your CR and Math SAT breakdown?

I’m assuming you are a junior.

208 PSAT and 2080 SAT. That is amazing that the scores actually equated in your case! (My SAT went down from my “equivalent” PSAT score.)

That’s really rare that the PSAT and SAT are exactly the same lol.

Nevertheless, it really depends on your CR+M score. Can’t go off of your ACT if it’s just a predicted score. Practice tests can be really inaccurate sometimes. Also, I didn’t think NYU did merit scholarships. They’re need blind, correct me if I’m wrong? Are you a NMSF? or Semi Finalist?

CR: 730
Math: 630
i know it’s not that great but I’m planning on taking it again.
And yeah I’m a junior

I know it’s pretty weird  CR: 730, M: 630. I’m not sure if NYU does merit scholarships. I was just curious if I qualified for frankly, $, from any university. I think I do @ Hofstra but I mean… I was hoping to go to a more selective school… :-S But if Hofstra is my only choice, I’ll go for it.

damn… that’s rough. Keep trying tho. Unless you got a 240 on the PSAT and something like a 2300 on the SAT, in which case, don’t keep trying. You good, you good

NYU does offer merit aid to specific students they really want (usually top scorers). Have you tried running the Net Price Calculator on each school’s web site? Don’t be surprised if you are considered full pay for NYU.

Merit at top schools, like NYU and Emory, is highly competitive. If you want to be considered for merit at THOSE types of schools, then your M+CR would need to be probably around a 1480+…or ACT 35-36.

Your current scores are “average” for those schools, so wouldn’t likely be considered for merit.

What is your situation?

Major?
career goal?
home state?
How much will your family pay each year (have your parents run the NPCs on those two schools)

npc = net price calculator.

What is your major
What is your rank
How many students in your senior class?

You may be eligible for a stem scholarship from SUNY

If you want large merit, then you need to apply where your stats are considered high (well-within the upper quartile)

^ An example of a place where OP’s stats may be considered high is Stony Brook or Hofstra.

is nursing a stem career? yeah I think I’ll end up going to Stony Brook or Hofstra if that’s the case:)

I don’t know about my rank or my class size
