I'm a high school senior but since my junior year I've been having college courses in a local university. These were psychology college courses, the major I plan on pursuing once in college. I actually performed incredibly well on these courses, and I had a 3.9 GPA (unweighted) and I currently have a 4.0 GPA (also unweighted). Would it be a good idea to ask the university to send the transcript? Would it help my chances of acceptance?

I’d say definitely yes.

Do it. It’ll show the colleges you can do well in courses for your intended major that are actually at the college level.

Most schools require that you send them transcripts for college courses taken in HS. It’s a plus since you’ve done well, so definitely send.

I am assuming the first poster meant yes, it is a good idea and was not answering the original question “Would it be a bad idea to do this?”. :)

Thanks guys! My problem is that although I’ve done incredibly well on those college courses, I did not have such high grades in my high school courses. That worries because I don’t know if college admissions will find it strange and be suspicious. Maybe I’m too paranoid, I don’t know.

Do it, it can only help!(: High college grades and low high school grades V. low high school grades? No brainer, if you ask me(: By the way, I love your username(:

Of course! It shows your college that you are capable of learning at a more rigorous environment. You might even be able to transfer those credits so you won’t have to take them! Good Luck!

Also, Please chance me at :http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1233618-chance-me-i-chance-back-please-drexel-swarthmore-bu-bsmd.html

My D has done much better in college than in HS, primarily and probably because she is now studying things she enjoys, rather than subjects the state mandated she take.

^But Joan, do you this will give me an advantage when it comes down to admissions?

It should. At the least, it won’t hurt you. And yes, I know I’m not Joan…

*think…

Penny, did you just ask whether it might be better to send only your not-terribly-impressive grades from high school, instead of sending the not-terribly-impressive high-school grades, plus some really good grades from college classes?

In what way could it possibly be better to send only the not-so-hot grades?

Send the college transcript, and good luck.

I think the common app (if you’re using it) specifically says that if you’ve taken courses at a college, you must have the college send an official transcript, so you don’t have to worry, no choice involved :)

I’m just worried because the college admissions might compare both transcripts and find it suspicious and unusual how I did so awful in high school, yet so great in college courses…

Penny, they may or may not (I think they won’t), but that’s completely beyond your control.

I still can’t see how you’re better off not sending the really good grades (if withholding them is even an option).

Send them.
