Would it be a problem to have visible tattoos going down the career path of medicine?

I want to be a cosmetic surgeon, but at the same time I want to have tattoos. They aren't negative/provacative tattoos at all. I want to have one of my birth sign on the underside of my forearm and one of my mother's name on the side of my neck. Would this affect my chances of getting into medical school as well as actually becoming a cosmetic surgeon?

Quite possibly. Check out the other thread on this. A number of posters indicated that visible tattoos would negatively affect their perception of the person. Remember, the people interviewing and evaluating you are typically not of your generation.

You could just wear long sleeves for the forearm one but the neck one might be a problem.
