would it be appropriate.....????

ok so i got an 800 on the writing section of the SAT
should i tell my ap english teacher about this? would she be happy or annoyed because she would think i'm bragging? i believe that her class has helped me out ALOT on the SAT
but ya know...she's not exactly the friendliest and most liked teacher...she's one of those old english teachers who are anal about everything and grade assignments VICIOUSLY

but i guess her tough class helped.

so should i tell her?? and how? what should i say??

thanks guys!!

I don’t know. I guess if you really think so and want to thank her, but I feel like teachers are pretty removed from the whole SAT world, so I don’t know how much it’d mean to her. It’d also depend what your relationship is like with her.

If you want to say something to her, I would start with something like, “Thanks for everything you’ve taught me; a lot of what I learned in your class helped me on the SAT.” Then if she seems interested or inquires further you can tell her your score.

hmmm if you guys were in my shoes…would u even think about telling her?

Personally, I wouldn’t. But then, I don’t think that what I’ve learned in English (or any class for that matter) really helped me on the SAT.

yeah thanks for the advice guys.
i don’t think i will now because it would be too awkward& i’m not that close to her.
and yes, that may be true that she is too far removed from the SAT.
lol but my physics teacher ALWAYS brags about how he got an 800 on the SAT math section when he was in highschool…but oh well i didn’t get 800 math.

heres another question:
should i go around school telling my friends…“yaya! i got 2290 on the sat!”
or should i not? cuz part of me wants to shove it in peoples’ faces but part of me is telling me to not be obnoxious lol

I only tell people my score if they ask. Being on here, I don’t feel like a 2260 is all that bragworthy, but when I did tell people at school they seemed more impressed. And I felt uncomfortable.

Lol, use reverse psychology and ask them their scores first. That way, even if they don’t want to tell you, you can still be like, “That’s cool, I got a ______.” And a week before the SAT, our AP US teacher loaded us with facts to use in our essay, lol.

I thanked my teachers that helped me a lot. You should do it too- it will definitely make them feel good

(to day tripper) actually a 2250+ is deff ivy-league worthy!! yeah some of these posters are ridiculous “i suck!! i got a 2300!” lol

Haha thanks. This place has such skewed ideas of what’s good. So I guess it is nice to get a pleasant dose of reality elsewhere, namely school.

yes to be honest, i feel like i’m more and more disconnected from my friends because our interests have just drifted…
i’ve just been caring alot about college and grades and tests and stuff =/
oh well
this year is almost over. i feel sad =[ even though i was really happy about my SAT

Asking someone how they did is a nearly foolproof method for getting them to ask for your scores.

When I told my friends my score, they didn’t think I was being obnoxious, they just kind of stood there in awe :-P
