I am going to be a senior next year and do not have a heavy schedule. I have no prior knowledge on physics so have to start with AP Physics 1, but is it possible to learn AP Physics 1 in one semester and take AP Physics 2 for the next semester?
Are you talking self-studying?
Nah, taking them online with a virtual high school.
@axlethetraveller It is definitely possible on a virtual school. I know the virtual school for my state is very flexible, and I have completed full year courses in 4-5 months. My advice would be to start right now over the summer and try to get half of AP Physics 1 done. Juggling activities and regular school can be difficult, so try to get more done during the summer. Note that this may not be as easy to do with other AP courses. AP Physics 1 is considered an introductory physics course, but others’ such as AP AB+BC may be harder to do in one year.
@ZealousScholar Got it, thanks!
Our public school teaches AP Physics 1 and 2 as one year long class and has a very high passing rate.
@3scoutsmom Sadly, my school offers only AP Physics C Mechanics. I had to the Physics 1 class online.
My high school has a block schedule in which you take 4 classes in fall and 4 classes in spring, rather than 8 year-long classes. At my high school, you can either take AP Physics 1 as a standalone class in fall, or you can also take AP Physics 2 in spring (however, you cannot take AP Physics 2 a different year than AP Physics 1). That being said, it totally depends on the high school’s rules and policies.
