Hi everyone,
Would listing your acceptance into free fly-in programs such as Swarthmore’s “Discover Swarthmore” or Haverford’s “Multicultural Scholars Experience” be a bad idea to put as an accomplishment or EC for the Common App? Would other schools view me negatively for listing your admission into such programs if it isn’t their own? Any insight would be appreciated, thanks!
I would not recommend listing that. It’s not an EC, and not really an accomplishment (of the sort AO are looking for.) It also smacks of desperation, IMO.
If you are a guy trying to ask a girl out, when you brag to her about all the other girls who are crazy about you, you just look like a conceited jerk.
Ah, I see, thanks for responding so quickly @pickpocket and @PrimeMeridian ! I was just wondering because some of the programs are very competitive to get into, so I just thought, “Why not?” Thank you for explaining that it’s not a good idea, I was already reconsidering the idea by the time I hit “post” XD
In retrospect, yeah that really isn’t a good idea lol
