Hey all,

I am currently a high school junior in NJ. I have absolutely zero interest in staying in my home state for college and have identified Miami University as my dream school. I love the feeling of the campus, the prestigious Farmer School, the social/friendly atmosphere and the commitment to undergrad teaching. I am interested in creating my own major called African and Latin American Economics. Plus, two alumni (one each of the '12 and '13 graduating classes) attend Miami, and I would love to join them!

Speaking of my high school, my current high school is ranked #30 in NJ. I am involved in many clubs in my school, such as the YDC, Support Our Troops Club, Gifts of Gold, Smiles for Seniors and Water for Africa. I also organized a Facebook page and candlelight vigil for a kid in my school who died of the flu last year.

However, despite all that, I have wanted to leave my current school since the summer. My family and I have been planning to move to a new town in NJ, half an hour away with a higher ranked school (#19 in NJ). We were originally going to move at that time, but different occurrences held it back. Now, I have the perfect chance to go to the high school of my dreams. I feel that my current school has nothing left to offer me academically. I have a 2.7 GPA throughout 2 years and a marking period in high school so far. I have all regular classes plus an academic lab. Also, despite being well-liked among my peers, I have no room to grow socially here. That's why I want to transfer to my new school as soon as possible, preferably either right at the start of the new year or at least before midterms. I plan on making as many shockwaves in my new school as possible.

If I get at least a 3.7 in my new school and am as actively involved as I am in my current school, what are my chances of acceptance into Miami University? Also, what SAT scores would I need with my current GPA being the way it is?

EDIT: I must also add that my guidance counselor is doing all she can to help me prepare for the SATs in May, including having me sign up for classes in February. My principal also really likes me lol
