Would October SAT be too late to apply?

I am an international who goes to highschool in texas.
And I do qualify for in-state tuition.

I have a 2090(650CR 770M 670W) and 2070(630 CR 740M 700W)
I have studied SAT very hard during the summer and think that I will score around 2200 in OCT
Anyway, I was wondering if I should apply with the scores I already have, and then update my OCT score
or
Wait till OCT score.
I heard that the faster you apply the better.

Oh, and I want to get in to Cockrell
Can anyone recommend majors I would have a decent chance?

They’ll continue to accept your test scores after you apply. Go ahead and apply and submit your housing deposit, if possible.

In regards to your chances, it’s pretty much impossible to tell with just an SAT score. What’s your class rank? Extracurriculars? Volunteer work? First gen college student? How are your essays?

Anyway, good luck with your college admission process. it was one of the worst times of my life, haha

i got into Cockrell this year with a 2120 which is only 30 points higher. I’m sure you will be fine

@vs1997 how can you say that without knowing rank or any of the other factors in the UT admissions formulas? Just curious if there is something you know about Cockrell and SAT’s that others should be aware of?

@vs1997 I am not auto admit though,
I just applied to Aerospace and Electrical. I heard that UT have a relatively lower competition in Aerospace. And I chose ElecE because they are the largest body in Cockrell. I hope I get in.

@Messipass I got into Aerospace by the way. I can assure you that you are incorrect about your claim that Aerospace has relatively lower competition. For this years freshman class, out of around 1500 that applied, only 155 were admitted. Which leaves the admittance at about 10 percent. Petroleum is another one where the admittance rate this year was around 8 percent. The three most competitive engineering majors according to number admitted out of number applied… 1. Petroleum 2. Aerospace 3. Biomedical

@Messipass the ones that have less competition are Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil, but are still difficult to get into. The departments are also much larger than the 3 mentioned above. Hope it goes all well! Good luck

You can be a specialist with a general degree, but it’s harder to be a generalist with a specialized degree. What does this mean? Aerospace engineers are educated in aerospace engineering. Mechanical engineers can work in the aerospace engineering field…or petroleum engineering…or many other areas, because they all need mechanical engineers. A more general field also helps with job security. Students who were accepted into petroleum engineering several years ago are looking at a completely different job market now.

@vs1997 Did you get admitted to UT for 2016 Fall? or 2015 Fall? and, were you auto admitted top10%
I am worried becuase I am about top20-15% my SAT is 2090( 1420). I think I will score 2150+ on the OCT SAT.
What do you think?
