Would presidency over a sports club mean anything to college administators?

I was planning to start a Table Tennis Club in my senior year, which has never been done before in my school. I was thinking of fundraising and hosting events and stuff for the club. I was wondering if being president of such a club may have any effect on my application when applying to college.

Is the club worthy enough to devote your energy if you were PREVENTED from disclosing it? If the answer is YES, then you should go ahead. If it’s to score brownie points for college admissions, then it’s practically meaningless to some colleges and meaningless to most colleges. Frankly, if you have room to improve your GPA and test prep, going into your final HS years, that would yield you greater benefit than some a one-line EC under your activities heading.

Yeah okay, this was just something extra since I already have a bunch of hours from coaching tennis. At first I was thinking about doing this just for fun, but was just wondering if it’s worth anything. Thanks for the insight.
