Would taking a free period in my junior year make or break my college admissions? I have an open slot since im planning on dropping soccer (too time consuming) and I can either take AP Gov/Econ or have an off period in its place. I would take AP Gov or Econ but I think I would be overloading myself taking 5 AP classes, not including Precal BC. Should I drop soccer and take either AP Gov/Econ or an off period or should I stay in my soccer class?
I should probably add my current classes:
APUSH
AP Chem
AP Physics 1
AP Lang
PreAP Precalculus BC
Soccer
Principles of Engineering
If you take more than 3 APs the kids here get a study period if they have their graduation requirements fulfilled. Gov is a requirement though, no? If it is, get it out of the way. It isn’t a free period per se at kids school, they are accounted for in a study area. If you could arrange your schedule to have that study period in sr year though, it would be way more helpful for college aps in the first semester, and your transcript for jr year would be full for your applications.
Just take ap gov or ap econ. I’m taking both this year (along with AP Calc AB, AP Bio, and AP Lit) and they’re extremely easy
If I were you, I would try to save that free period for senior year.
