Would these schools fit into my "good-match" category?

Hi all,
I'm a junior in high school, and recently completed the Princeton Review's Counselor-o-Matic questionnaire. However, the results i got seemed odd and inaccurate. Since there seems to be alot of knowledgeable and helpful people on these boards, i figured i'd ask your opinion on the accuracy of my results.

I'll start by listing my major statistics, and then i'll list the results that seemed out of place to me.

1400 SAT
3.58 GPA
Taking the hardest courses offered at my school.
Will have 5 APs by the end of senior year
Debate Club, Martial Arts, Varsity Tennis (All of which i have won awards for, but no leadership postitions within these activities)
Plenty of Community Service ( a VERY rough estimate would be 400 hours)
Interested in a Computer Science major.

Now here are some of the schools that counselor-o-matic listed under the "good-match" section.
Carnegie Mellon
Wesleyan University
Cornell University

My question is: Would you consider these schools "good-match" or "reach" for my stats? Because originally i had assumed these schools would be a reach for me to get into, but the counselor-o-matic says different. Is princeton review inaccurate, or am i underestimating my chances?

ANY feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance :)

3.58 if unweighted, you have a good shot (cornell will be a reach)
3.58 if weighted --> all reaches

Hope that helps. Top 10% is critical. Are you top 10%

IMHO, Cornell would be a reach no matter what, simply because it's an Ivy. Your stats are good and CMU and Wesleyan seem to be matches.

3.58 is unweighted. I haven't gotten my class rank yet, but i'll be right on the border of top 10%. Our schools does rank by QPA, which takes the level of your classes into account (which will help me). I'm not sure how common this system is outside of connecticut, or even out of my school for that matter, so this number might not mean anything to you, but my QPA is a 16.9 out of 20.

Thanks for the feedback.

I had problems with Princeton Review also. Take its advice with a grain of salt.

Hey, I'm from CT, too. Where abouts are you from, FlyinV?

I go to Amity Regional in Woodbridge, how about you?

Do not rely on Counselor-O-Matic -- the data are out-dated, etc. IMHO, you're overreaching. You need to look at Bucknell, Lehigh, Tulane (good compsci program), JHU, Michigan, Chicago, Rochester, RPI and Wisconsin.

1400 SAT isn't my actual score, i actually don't get my scores untill Aprill 11th. But 1400 was what i entered into counselor-o-matic. I figured i'd get at least that, since i've gotten as high as 800 on the math in practice tests, and usually score about 700 in reading. Writing is what i'm concerned about, i do really well on the grammer section, but graders have trouble reading my handwriting. (The score i gave you was out of 1600 b/c thats what PR asks for).

Anyhow, my real goal score is 2200. Hypothetically, if i got that, would i still be overreaching (don't forget, i never expected to get into this places to begin with, so i wouldn't quite call it overreaching)?

And this will definatley sound like a stupid question, but what does IMHO stand for?

Thanks for the feedback :)

IMHO stands for in my humble opinion.

Thanks. CC seems to have its own lingo lol (or maybe its just me).

No, it's not just you... CC does have its own lingo. You are still only a new member. Once you've been here a while, you'll get used to it and be using the lingo before you know it! :)

3.58 unweighted and u might be in the top 10%?!! good god, i have a 3.93 (unweighted) and i hardly crack the top 20% of my class, and yes i have a rather challenging course load as well. consider yourself lucky, or me unlucky.
