would this look bad on college app???

ok so i know really good colleges look at which classes ur taking sooo
for ivy leagues and/or colleges like ucla
would taking teen living freshman year look bad??
what about taking ap art twice??? once soph year and once junior year (this was because i like art, and i wanted to get a better score on ap exam, and also i did tennis after school instead of for 6th period so i had nothin better to do and i didnt want to TA)

Ivies, and even most colleges don’t really look at freshman year schedule. But I think AP Art might hender your chances a little bit. This is kinda rare

Whether the school cares about freshman year, they still ask for and see those classes and grades. It can add to their impression of you, your strengths. Or not. Yes, it can make a not so great impression to see you elected “teen living.” If it’s a requirement at your hs, don’t worry. Otherwise, there shuold be a darned good reason you chose it.

Taking AP art twice? Now, that can draw attention to your judgment. You may have taken it to improve your scores; Ivy adcoms are going to wonder why you didn’t stretch yourself instead. It’s a brutal competition.

You have to show your accomplishments and ability to take on challenges and master them.

It sounds like there was no other AP class to take 6th period? If so, be sure to explain that in your application. If there was another AP class you could have taken, it may be a small problem.

And freshman year isn’t so big a deal. Since you’re aiming for the Ivies, I assume you’ve taken many other AP classes that show your difficult courseload?

Taking AP Art multiple times is different from, say, taking AP Statistics multiple times.

At our local high school, students who qualify for Advanced Studio, AP Art: Drawing, or AP Art: 3D, before their senior year can repeat them for credit as they continue to build their portfolios, and develop skills. I don’t see why a strong visual artist would be penalized for this.

umm well i took teen living because that’s what they gave me since they ran out of room in languages. I really didn’t want to take it.
this year(junior) I’m taking ap english 11 and apush, next year i’m taking ap english 12, ap calc ab, ap gov, ap econ, and ap psych
idk if that’s not enough?
but i’ve gotten straight As so far
