Is this bad?

I'm going to major in engineering and so far in my junior year i don't even have an AP in science yet (though i'm taking AP physics in senior year)

Well were you offered AP science classes before senior year? If so, then yeah it could look bad, but I can't imagine it being to huge of a deal if you would have had to go completely out of your way to fit in an extra AP that takes up two periods of your schedule. I'm sure some others can weigh in with some more concrete advice, though. Good luck.

It also depends on the schools you are looking at.

i'm looking at UCLA and UCB (which both emphasize the amount of AP classes taken)

i haven't taken any AP sciences yet (all i have my junior yea ris AP english and AP US history) because my parents made me take IB, which emphasizes on social studies and english instead of sciences

i'm taking chemistry honors and physics honors right now because they cover the IB material for the IB test, and the AP doesn't

Well if you're taking and scoring well on the IB tests then you don't really have much of a problem. Just focus on making 7's so that the colleges you apply to don't think you slacked off by not taking AP's.

the IB results don't come out until end of senior year (except the SL's)

so colleges can't really see my IB scores

Are the classes IB or are you just taking the tests? If it's the latter, make sure you note somewhere on your application that you are taking IB tests.

the classes are honors but cover IB material, so i'm pretty sure i'll have to mention this on my apps

btw, do colleges actually care what AP's i'm taking or do they just care about the rigor of my schedule

bump________________

They want you to take the most rigorous curriculum your school offers, and often that means taking AP's.

I'm a math/physics major and the only science "AP" I took was a community college physics course my junior year. And I didn't take the AP test.

Where do you go to school?

Sly Si goes/went to Stanford.

Although it's good to keep in mind that my school didn't offer science AP's until my soph or junior year, and even then, they were tough to schedule in.

I also had a pretty long math team resume, so that may have made up for it.
